- Hosting a Chef’s Table Experience in Your Own Home
There’s something special about sitting at a chef’s table—watching the dishes come together, hearing the stories behind them, and getting a front-row seat to the creative process. But you don’t have to go to a Michelin-starred restaurant to experience it. As a private chef in Cornwall, I bring the chef’s table experience into your home, creating an intimate, interactive dining event like no other.
So, how does it work? Here’s what to expect when you host a private chef’s table at home.
1. A Completely Bespoke Menu
Forget set menus—this is about creating something completely personal. Before the event, we chat about your favourite ingredients, dishes, and the kind of experience you want. Whether it’s a seafood-focused tasting menu, a celebration of Cornish produce, or dishes inspired by a special place or memory, every menu is designed just for you.
Example: A recent client wanted a menu inspired by their honeymoon in Italy, so I created dishes like handmade ricotta tortellini with sage butter and a slow-braised osso buco with saffron risotto.
2. Bringing the Restaurant Experience to You
A chef’s table at home is about more than just the food—it’s the whole experience. That means beautifully set tables, perfectly timed courses, and the chance to sit back and enjoy the evening without lifting a finger.
I handle everything—sourcing the best seasonal ingredients, prepping, cooking, serving, and even the washing up. You just relax, enjoy the wine, and watch the dishes come together.
3. Stories Behind the Dishes
One of the best things about a chef’s table is the interaction. It’s not just about eating—it’s about understanding the thought and craft behind each dish.
Throughout the evening, I introduce each course, sharing the inspiration, techniques, and stories behind the ingredients. Whether it’s the local fisherman who caught the mackerel or the reason I’ve paired a certain sauce with a dish, you get to experience food in a whole new way.
4. The Finishing Touches
It’s the little details that turn a dinner into an unforgettable experience. That’s why I always add extra touches—whether it’s handwritten menus, surprise amuse-bouches, or a perfectly paired digestif to finish the night.
One of my favourite finishing touches? Homemade petit fours—like dark chocolate truffles with Cornish sea salt—served with coffee to round off the evening.
Want to Host Your Own Chef’s Table?
Whether it’s a special occasion, an intimate dinner party, or just an excuse to enjoy incredible food, a private chef’s table experience brings something unique to the table. If you’re ready to turn your home into a restaurant for the night, I’d love to cook for you.
